ResumoThe association of the fungus Stenocarpella maydis in corn seed can compromising the seed germination and vigor of the plants emerged. This work was carried out to evaluate the effects caused by S. maydis on corn seed quality as well as its development. To evaluate such effects seed corn cultivars RB9308YG (C1) and RB9108 (C2) were inoculated by periods of 24hours(P1), 48 hours(P2), 72 hours(P3) and 96hours(P4). Was evaluated germination, incidence, electrical conductivity, emergence speed index (IVE), initial and final seedling number and dry weight. Plants were grown in a growth room under 20 ° C and 25 ° C and evaluated daily until 28 days. It was observed that as longer the exposition time to the fungal colony to seeds as bigger the negative effects in vigor parameters. In plants from seeds inoculated for 96 hours there were lower levels of vigor (IVE), stands and dry weight. The combination C1/25 ° C was the most favorable to compromise the vigor parameters.
