The book Romanceiro da Inconfidencia by Cecilia Meireles is a canonic work of Brazilian literature. When the modernist author retracted the Minas Gerais Conspiray that happened in Vila Rica in the 18th century, she presented a literary, cultural and politic scenery of that period. For that, the author used the literary genre romance (a popular literary composition in verses of Iberian origin) to build her romancero. The objectives of this research are to analyze the book Romanceiro da Inconfidencia passing over the traditional dichotomous view canonic versus marginal and highlighting the diversity of literary and cultural resources used in its construction.
