Resumo

This study aims at analyzing how the sociological theory of Bourdieu provides concepts that allow a reading of the Brazilian country music nowadays. For this article, we chose the song “E Problema Meu”, by Tche Garotos, aiming to verify how the “field” concept as provided by Bourdieu applies. We observe that the “field” notion is constituted with relative autonomy in relation to the complex of social fields and, therefore, allows to link themes in which the meaning are conflicting according to social framings. Thus, this paper is divided as the following: in the first section, we bring the concepts of field, mainly according to Bourdieu (1989) and Ortiz (1983), of symbolic power, according to the same authors, and, at last, a few considerations about the theory of the formation of tastes, according to Bourdieu (1983); in the second section, we bring a brief explanation about the origin and evolution of the Brazilian country music, based in Caldas (1987), as we make a few notes on the alcoholic beverages consumption statistics in national and regional extents, based on official documents from the State and also on Ramos (1984); and, finally, in the third section, we bring an analysis of the cited song by Tche Garotos, aiming to verify which are the meaning effects raised from the uttered discourse and making the links to the Bourdieu’s theoretical proposal.
