Abstract Seventy charophyte species, three of which are new, are described from marls associated with Etampes limestones near Fontainebleau and Soisy-sur-Ecole (Seine-et-Marne, France). Two other species are recorded for the first time from the Paris basin. The age of these beds, based on the new charophytes, is Stampian (Tertiary).
