ResumoThe aim of this paper is to analyze the issue of constitution and self-transformation of the subject through self care, as presented by Michel Foucault. It presents a study about the relationship between subject and the governmentality, the government of himself and others from their pursuit of an ethic of self proposed as a form of political resistance, which is considered an urgent task of philosophy and education in our days. The article proposes a revision of some elements developed in Foucault's theories, with emphasis on the notions of government and the problematization of the relationship between one and one-self to think an ethics that is no longer focused on codes, conducts, rights and duties, and that does not propose a decipherment of a truth, but that takes as its axis the relationship between individuals and themselves to promote an art of life
