ResumoThis chapter discusses the raw materials contained and the percentage by weight of each raw material of various antiperspirants and deodorants. Some of the antiperspirants and deodorants discussed in the chapter include aerosol antiperspirant, antiperspirant cream, antiperspirant gel, antiperspirant emulsion roll-on, and antiperspirant lotion. In antiperspirant pump-spray, as all components are mutually compatible, simple cold blending is sufficient. Witconol APM, Witconol APS, and carnation white mineral oil add emolliency to this formulation. Witconol APM and Witconol APS allow the coupling of mineral oil, which helps prevent valve clogging. The gel deodorant stick is clear to translucent. Various phenolic-type anti-microbials can be incorporated into this formulation. The high solvency characteristics of Witconol APM enhance the overall solubilizing properties of this formulation as well as impart desirable emollient properties.
