La dozyita, un interestratificado regular 1:1 de serpentina y clorita con formula general Mg7Al2[(Si4Al2)O15](OH)12, fue reconocida en el skarn Loma Marcelo, en el basamento neoproterozoico de las Sierras Australes de la provincia de Buenos Aires aflorante en el area de los cerros Pan de Azucar y del Corral. Este mineral fue anteriormente citado en las minas Ertsberg East (Indonesia) y Woods (Pennsylvania, Estados Unidos) y en el Complejo Ofiolitico Shetland (Escocia, Reino Unido). La dozyita del skarn Loma Marcelo fue identificada petrograficamente y mediante difraccion de rayos X en muestras de roca total y fue analizada por microsonda electronica. Se encuentra asociada a calcita, dolomita, condrodita, espinela y serpentina y su formula general es (Mg7,11 Al1,45 Fe3+0,06 Ca0,03)O = 8,65 [(Si4,14 Al1,86)O = 6,00 O15,00] (OH11,52 F0,48 Cl0,004)O = 12,00. La dozyita del skarn Loma Marcelo se formo durante una etapa de retrogradacion por reemplazo de clinocloro y, a su vez, la dozyita se encuentra parcialmente reemplazada por serpentina. EnglishFinding of dozyite at the Loma Marcelo skarn in the Sierras Australes of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The dozyite is a 1:1 regular interestratification of serpentine and chlorite which general formula is Mg7Al2[(Si4Al2)O15](OH)12. It was recognized in the Loma Marcelo skarn, at the Pan de Azucar Hill-Del Corral Hill area in the Neoproterozoic basement of the Sierras Australes of Buenos Aires Province. Previously, this mineral was mentioned at Ertsberg East Mine (Indonesia) and Woods Mine (Pennsylvania, United States) and at the Shetland Ophiolitic Complex (Scotland, United Kingdom). The studied dozyite was identified petrographically and by X-ray diffraction in whole rock samples and was analyzed with an electron microprobe. The dozyite of the Loma Marcelo skarn forms an assemblage with calcite, dolomite, chondrodite, spinel and serpentine and its general chemical formula is (Mg7,11 Al1,45 Fe3+0,06 Ca0,03)O = 8,65 [(Si4,14 Al1,86)O = 6,00 O15,00] (OH11,52 F0,48 Cl0,004)O = 12,00. The dozyite of the Loma Marcelo skarn was formed during a retrogradation stage by replacement of clinochlore and, in turn, the dozyite was partially replaced by serpentine.
