ResumoThis article aims to discuss the processes active in the erosion surfaces development there is in the medium course of river basin Pitangui, Parana state. The Pitangui river basin is located in the central-eastern of Parana state. The basin developed between the First and Second Plateau Paranaense. To achieve the proposed objective, the procedures used were literature review, topographic and geologic analysis, mapping of the surfaces and field work. From the observations made in the field, where the sandstones of Furnas Formation occurs up the diamictites Iapo and these lie on rocks belonging to Cunhaporanga Granitic Complex, it is assumed that the surface of Pre-Devonian in the area object of study is the result of the performance of processes acting between the geological Ordovician and Cambrian. The glacial grooves there is in the region are evidence of Permo-Carboniferous glaciation that previously served reinforcing the regional relief. Such features are well preserved and corroborate the hypothesis that the surface of Puruna had its beginning in a distant geological past and was being reworked over the past geological periods.
