Does the triage flow model that performs best during peak patient volume times also work best during low volume times? Triaging and registering patients in a waiting room likely degrades the operational performance of the ED by delaying direct patient care. Such lost productivity may have a ripple effect on the operational performance of the ED throughout the daily cycle.
