ResumoResearch Article| October 01 2017 Nonfiction Video Practice as Twenty-First-Century Liberal Education: The ASPIRE Experiment at UCLA D. Andy Rice D. Andy Rice D. Andy Rice is an assistant professor of film studies and comparative media studies at Miami University in Ohio. Between 2014 and 2017, he led a media praxis pilot in the liberal arts college at the University of California, Los Angeles, the subject of the article here. He is also the coproducer, cinematographer, and editor of Spirits of Rebellion: Black Cinema from UCLA (dir. Zeinabu irene Davis), a feature documentary about the L.A. Rebellion film movement, and the coproducer and codirector with Victoria Marks of Unhooked (2017), a choreography-documentary about hookup culture and sexual violence on college campuses. He is currently writing a book manuscript about documentary camerawork and historical reenactment performance across the analog-to-digital transition.
