ResumoGenerally speaking, it is desirable to plan and decide the incorporation of the towns and villages in concideration of the uniformity of the community functions. We tried to survey, from this point, the daily life of the inhabitants at Nijo town in Fukuoka Prefecture, in 1964. We delivered the investigation cards to the middle school boys and girls, which inquire the places of shopping, the means of the traffic, the number of times and the reasons of shopping. N.-town was incorporated by gathering the former town and villages in 1955. There are two centres in which concentrated many shops and offices and most of the inhabitants depend upon these facilities. Ikizan district, a part of N.-town, is situated in the half way between N. and M.-town and it's inhabitants have had relations with N.-town in the historical and administrative scope, but recently the traffic communication by bus increased and the area of the living activity has extended beyond the former. The dependent center of the inhabitants in shopping has changed from the centre of the their own town to the centre of the neighbor town, Maebaru. In conclusion, the difference of the distance and the economical function between the centre locality and the outer locality is the most important factor that decides the relationship of the dependance in their daily life.
