ResumoFew countries are better placed than Cuba for a move towards self-sufficiency in renewable energy. Not only does it have abundant wind and sunshine but also sustainable sources of biomass. Sugar cane waste – bagasse – of course; and, more unusually, hardwood, namely the invasive Marabu tree which is widely regarded as a pest. Andrew Mourant investigates.
