Resumo

The article makes an analysis on the performance of the Food Purchase Program (PAA) in the municipality of Presidente Venceslau (SP), the PAA is a public policy that is buying products from family farms and giving the people insecure food and social institutions (kindergartens, nursing homes, home of the minor, orphanages and schools). The analysis to suggest that the PAA has narrowed rural-urban relations, as the agricultural products produced in agrarian reform settlements materialize in urban space and are able to directly intervene in the social condition of reproduction of the subject and at the same time consolidate actions to assist institutions, consolidating a connection between the productive dimension of the field as the basis of land reform and social welfare as a strategy for social security. Keywords: Public Policies, Food Security, Rural Settlements.
