Síntese: No intento de contribuir para a compreensão da Igreja que se manifestaem diferentes contextos, é importante aprofundar a teologia da Igreja local,partindo da fé dos cristãos na Igreja como assembléia convocada para ouvir aPalavra do Evangelho e vivê-lo num lugar e tempo determinados. Para tanto,faz-se mister tratar da relação entre conceitos como “diocese”, “Igreja particular”,“Igreja local”, “Igreja universal”. Tal relação não é isenta de tensões, que seexpressam, sobretudo, nas diferentes abordagens da relação entre ministériopetrino e ministério episcopal, e nas ênfases eclesiológicas diferenciadas, favorecendoa Igreja universal ou a Igreja local. Resgatando a história da teologia daIgreja local, é fundamental centrar-se na experiência das primeiras comunidadescristãs, tal como relatada no Novo Testamento, e nos ensinamentos do ConcílioVaticano II, desenvolvendo os elementos teológicos que constituem a naturezada Igreja local e sua organização concreta.Abstract: The objective of the author is to foster a wider understanding of theChurch in its various contexts in order to deepen the theology of the local Churchbeginning with the gathering of its faithful members as a community called forthto listen to the Word of the Gospel and to learn to integrate it with the rest of ourliving at a specific time and place. Thus what we need is to deal with the relationshipbetween the concept of “diocese,” “local Church”, and “universal Church”.Such a relationship is in no way exempt from tensions, which appear mainly inthe treatment of its implications with the Petrine and the Episcopal ministries,as well as a differentiated ecclesiological emphasis favoring either the universalor local Church. In a closer look at the local Church it is quite important to focuson the Christian communities from the beginning of the New Testament and thestatements issued by the II Vatican Council as it develops the theological tenetsof the true nature of the local Church and its concrete organization.
