ANTIRREALISMO COMO CRÍTICA DA CIÊNCIA MODERNA

ResumoEnglishThe aim of this paper is to analyze some aspects of what we might call a ‘critical antirealism” of the realist epistemology. To do so, first I presented three main arguments: (1) the underdetermination of scientific theories; (2) the invulnerability of the theories to empirical data; (3) the incommensurability between different paradigms. Then, I give two arguments that limit the scope of a critical antirealism, namely: (1) the evidence of the scientific success; (2) the possible complementarity between realism and antirealism. With this move, we seek to suggest a rational measure between the objectivity of expectations inherent any scientific discourse and the philosophical criticism around the status of truth in science. portuguesO objetivo deste artigo e analisar alguns aspectos do que poderiamos chamar de critica antirrealista tanto a epistemologia realista, quanto ao estatuto de neutralidade e imparcialidade supostamente presentes dentro das ciencias naturais. Para tanto, primeiramente apresento tres argumentos centrais: (1) a subdeterminacao das teorias cientificas; (2) a invulnerabilidade das teorias aos dados empiricos; (3) a incomensurabilidade entre paradigmas diferentes. Feito isso, dou dois argumentos que limitam o alcance da critica antirrealista, a saber: (1) a evidencia do sucesso cientifico; (2) o possivel carater complementar entre realismo e antirrealismo. Com esse movimento, busca-se sugerir uma justa medida racional entre as expectativas de objetividade inerentes a todo discurso cientifico e a critica filosofica em torno do problema do estatuto da verdade em ciencia.
