ResumoEngineers in Alaska initiated a program to bring potable water and wastewater service to a town of 500 Yup'ik Eskimos. This entailed building a 7.2 km boardwalk over permafrost so that four-wheelers towing trailer-mounted tanks could cross the otherwise impassable terrain. As part of the program, Village Safe Water engineers provided low-flow fixtures for existing bathrooms and bolt-on modular bathrooms to houses that lacked them. All work was constructed by Yup'ik crews.
