Resumo: O autor reconhece que o tema e fascinante, mas dificil de ser abordado, por causa de fantasmas ou mesmo tabus que tentam direcionar ideologicamente a reflexao sobre “Igreja e Eucaristia”. Ele comeca verificando esse tema nos documentos do Vaticano II e nas numerosas intervencoes do Magisterio no pos-Concilio. A seguir, estuda a relacao entre Ecaristia e Igreja a partir da Prece Eucaristica V, aprovada para o Brasil em 1975. Chama a atencao para o significado do “primeiro nome da Missa”, a “fracao do pao”, e para a unidade de toda a Liturgia Eucaristica. Antes da conclusao, alerta para os desafios que permanecem. Abstract: The author realizes that the theme is fascinating but quite difficult to be dealt with due to possible phantoms or even taboos which might steer forcibly the theological thought pattern concerning the “Church and Eucharist”. He begins by verifying this theme in the documents of Vatican II and in the numerous interventions of the Magisterium during the period after the Council. Afterwards he studies the relationship between the Eucharist and Liturgy on the basis of the Eucharistic Prayer V, which was approved to be used in Brazil in 1975. Special attention is drawn to the significance of the “first name of the Mass” as “breaking the bread”, as well as the unity of the entire Eucharistic Liturgy. Before an overall conclusion he makes an alert towards the challenges which still remain.
