Resumo: A passagem dos 450 anos do encerramento do Concilio de Trento (1563-2013) motiva-nos o estudo das circunstâncias e resultados desse evento eclesial, certamente um dos de maior ressonância na historia da Igreja, e cujos efeitos ainda sao plenamente visiveis. O artigo comeca situando Trento no seu contexto europeu, no final da Idade Media, detendo-se a seguir na figura de Martinho Lutero, para entao comentar “Trento e suas decisoes”. Aborda tambem o “Missal de Sao Pio V”, tido por intocavel pelos tradicionalistas, e observa que “mudancas sao sempre lentas”. Na conclusao, ressalta o fato de que os 450 anos de Trento estao sendo marcados, inesperada mas providencialmente, pela eleicao e o pontificado de Francisco, o novo “Bispo de Roma”, que esta acendendo tantas esperancas. Abstract: The course of 450 years since the end of the Council of Trent (1563- 2013) is the reason of studying the circumstances an results of this major ecclesial event, which without any doubt had one of the most resounding repercussion in the history of the Church. Its consequence is still in sight today for every body to see. The article begins situation the Council of Trent in the European context, at the end of the Middle Ages, with a short stopover visualizing Martin Luther, the central figure causing a religious conflict for centuries to come. The article also deals with the Missal of Pius V which was held as untouchable by the traditionalist wing of the ecclesial circles. The author throws some light on the matter in hand. In the conclusion, a notable contribution comes forth envisaging the period of 450 years under the sign of the new pope Francis, opening up a new hope for the Church of today and the ages to come.
