Resumo: Conceber a identidade e a missão da vida religiosa consagradacomo um caminho especial de seguimento de Jesus, o Missionário do Pai, ésituá-la no amplo horizonte do discipulado missionário, retomado, com força econvicção, no Documento de Aparecida. Todos os carismas dos institutos, devida contemplativa e ativa, existem para percorrer o caminho de Jesus e darcontinuidade à sua missão.A Igreja conta com a colaboração da vida religiosa consagrada, na gestação deuma nova geração de discípulos missionários e de uma nova sociedade, ondese respeite a justiça e a dignidade da pessoa. A vida religiosa consagrada estáempenhada em reavivar sua dimensão profético-missionária, atuando nas novasperiferias e fronteiras, intensificando a opção pelos pobres e fortalecendo o compromissocom as grandes causas sociais, econômicas, políticas e ambientais.Abstract: The document of Aparecida has a quite unique approach to the identityand the mission of religious life involving consecrated persons by focusing on thespecial lifestyle of following Jesus, the missionary of God the Father. Moreover,religious life is to be seen in a wider context of a missionary discipleship withnew vigor and personal convictions. All the charisms of the religious institutes, ofcontemplative and active communities, are called to follow the way of Jesus andto strife to give continuity of his mission. The Church counts on the cooperationof religious life embraced by consecrated persons, and on the growth both ofa new generation of missionary disciples and of a new society safeguardingjustice and human dignity. Religious life manifested by consecrated personsshould revive the prophetic and missionary dimension, exercising activities inurban peripheries and opening up new frontiers, intensifying the Christian optionfor the benefit of the poor and strengthening the commitment to major causes inthe area of social, economic, political, and ecological interests.
