Resumo

The article discusses the links between media visibility and political capital, analyzing the communication strategy employed by the Brazilian Federal Government at the time of the 2015 Labor Day, when President Dilma Rousseff, breaking a tradition of the PT government, did not comment on National Chain Radio and Television (CNRT), demonstrating prevention of overexposure. At a time when Dilma Rousseff reached their lowest levels of popularity, the strategy was to avoid the penetration via mass media, speaking only on the Internet, which also has shorter range compared to TV and Radio in Brazil. In this regard, the statements made are studied on labor day by CNRT (first term) in 2014 and the announcement made in May 2015 (second term), broadcast via the Internet. Through the methodological apparatus offered by french discourse analysis seeks to understand the discursive mechanisms that emerge in the speech of the President, in view of the different political scenarios and adaptation of the presidential message to the discursive grammar imposed by the digital environment.
