He is the author of two books on Aristides de Sousa Mendes: Injustiça: O Caso Sousa Mendes, trans. António Pescada (Lisbon: Editorial Caminho, 1990); and Um Homem Bom: Aristides de Sousa Mendes, trans. António Pescada (Alfragide: Texto, 2010; Rio de Janeiro: Casa da Palavra, 2011), and other scholarly articles. He is a research associate of the Center for Political Studies (Núcleo de Estudos Políticos) of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro. He is the author of Quixote nas trevas: o embaixador Souza Dantas e os refugiados do nazismo (Rio: Record, 2002); Imigrante ideal: o Ministério da Justiça e a entrada dos refugiados no Brasil (1941–1945) (Rio de Janeiro: Civilização Brasileira, 2012). He coauthored Two Diplomats and People in Need (Stockholm: Brazilian Embassy, 2014). He is also the author of many scholarly articles and chapters in books, which he edited.
