ResumoThe Vermillion Flycatcher (Pyrocephalus rubinus) is a conspicuous and abundant bird in the Americas, but, in*spite of this, its behaviour is little known. The present paper reports a detailed study of this species, with special emphasis on its reproductive behaviour. It was found that reproduction continues throughout the year, and that the same pair frequently lays several clutches of eggs in the same nest. The behaviour of the adult birds during nest-building and in the care of the young is described too. The significance of the various kinds of vocalizations and flight patterns is analyzed. Finally, several interesting records of the species are discussed in relation to zoogeography.
