History of Education Research in Brazil

The central aim of this article is the realization of an interim review of the History of Historiography in Portugal and its place in Portuguese Historiography until April 25, 1974. We will use as a source theEnsaios III Sobre Teoria da Historia e Historiografia, by Vitorino Magalhaes Godinho, Published in 1971. Once the work referred to in the political, social and ideological contexts has been inserted, a discourse analysis will be carried out, promoting comparisons with Joaquim Barradas de Carvalho's Da Historia Cronica a Historia-ciencia (1972) and Antologia de Historiografia Portuguesaby Oliveira Marques. The main result of this investigation, still indicative, reflects a climate of uncertainty and ambiguity. Magalhaes Godinho or Oliveira Marques contributed to the beginning and the first systematization of a new history of historiography. Their efforts imply a progressive specialization of knowledge.
