ResumoI would like to thank the Reviewers, Associate Editors and Editorial Board for their advice and guidance with regard to the manuscripts submitted for publication in Volume 37 of Ophthalmic & Physiological Optics. Apologies for any errors in placing reviewers into regional categories in the list below, which was based on e-mail addresses or web searches. The names below provide a very impressive list of international experts in their fields. This process is quite remarkable given that reviewers are all very busy and successful researchers who review papers without any remuneration, asked to perform it within a short time period, and do all of this all on top of their normal day job! This editorial is a formal indication of our appreciation. Part way through this year, given the huge time and effort that many researchers take to provide some very high quality reviews, the editorial board agreed that it would be a very useful approach to specifically acknowledge reviews that are exceptional. This acknowledgement is given to only a few of the most knowledgeable and helpful reviews of the many manuscripts sent to OPO, approximately the top 5%. For the second part of 2017 (and apologies for those reviewers who would have received this acknowledgement if it had been available earlier in 2017 and in previous years), Topical Editors indicated that the following researchers provided reviews that were exceptional: The role of the Associate editors is that they take over the editorial process for papers that are in their area of expertise and for papers submitted by the Editor-in-Chief and his colleagues and collaborators. They also advise on invited reviews and feature issues. Members of the editorial board provide similar advice and also help to determine whether papers should be provided with a full review. Our current Associate Editors and Editorial board are listed on our website and on the inside cover of the hard copy of the journal. They are also an essential part of a successful research journal. I would also like to thank the feature issue editors for our special issue in 2017: Jos Rozema, David Atchison and Haris Ginis (May 2017 issue, Visual and Physiological Optics).
