EnglishThe biography of Fausto Maldonado is divided into four main moments which mark different personal circumstances and social tasks. The first two can be seen as one era, related to the early years and to his academic training, but what really stands out in those twenty six years is the fact that he was an illiterate goatherd for nineteen and then learnt how to read in seven, going on to be the top student of his year in Teaching in Vitoria. Equally, the next nearly twenty years - in which he was teacher and mayor in Almoharin and then Royal Heritage Director of Las Hurdes - constitute a second era. These years were dedicated to spreading the ideas of regeneration and educational and social progress in this part of Extremadura. These ideas had come to him extremely quickly, being assimilated and reinterpreted through study, travel and the friendships he built in this time
