This article reflects on the image of death in tragedy coverages on television journalism, focusing in Jornal Hoje's, of Rede Globo, special coverage on the Kiss Nightclub tragedy. The corpus of this research is composed by Jornal Hoje's edition that went on air in January 28, 2013. The objective of this study is to analyze how Jornal Hoje presented death, through Kiss Nightclub tragedy, through images. Between the main concepts addressed through the article are aspects referring to the television media like: the television as a social bond (Wolton, 1996); the journalistic coverages (Emerin e Brasil, 2001); the image in TV newscast (LEAL, 2006); and the spectacle in television journalism. In the discussions about dealing with death in society in the context of TV newscasts, the main references were: Aries (2003); Morin (2007) and Barbosa (2004). For the analysis we utilized the technique of Analysis of moving images, created by Diana Rose (2002).
