El presente estudio gira en torno a la labor que realizara Pedro Quesada en la Intendencia de Ciudad Real de Chiapa, perteneciente a la Audiencia de Guatemala, durante las últimas décadas del Antiguo Régimen. Aunque su mudanza a suelo guatemalteco fue tardía, a través de relaciones políticas y de paisanaje, logró adaptarse y progresar en el ámbito administrativo chiapaneco durante las primeras décadas del siglo XIX, la promulgación de la independencia en la región y la adhesión de Chiapas al Estado mexicano. Durante la detentación de los diversos cargos, imbuido en el espíritu de la Ilustración hispánica tan en boga para la época, dio un gran apoyo a las campañas de vacunación, el impulso a la agricultura emergente, la búsqueda experimental de la cura para el mal del pinto y la administración de la imprenta que introdujera la Sociedad de Amigos del País en Chiapas.AbstractThe present study turns around the work that made Pedro Quesada in the Intendencia of Ciudad Real of Chiapa, pertaining to the Audience of Guatemala, during the last decades of the Antiguo Régimen. Although his transfer to Guatemalan floor was late, through political relations and of paisanaje, attained to adapt and progress in the administrative field chiapaneco during the first decades of the 19th century, the promulgation of the independence in the region and the adhesion of Chiapas to the Mexican State. During the possession of the diverse charges, included in the spirit of the Hispanic Illustration so in cattail for the period, gave a big support to the campaigns of vaccination, the impulse to the emergent agriculture, the experimental research of the cure for the evil of the paint and the administration of the printing that entered the Society of Fellow.
