Diverse Aspects of Tourism Research

For the regions and cities that have tourist attractions, increasing the importance of tourism industry, is an important element. Nowadays, tourists are doing a detailed research on the place to go when planning a vacation or going to a tourist area. One of the most important reasons why tourists prefer a destination is the destination image. University students are both potential individuals who assess the image of the region they are studying and potential tourists in the future. Finding out how the image of destination is perceived by the university students studying in the region has great importance in terms of the development of the tourism in the region and the increase of the number of tourists. The purpose of this study is to reveal the thoughts of the destination image of the Arhavi district where the Artvin Coruh University Arhavi Vocational High School students have studied. In the context of the literature, destination and perception are explained and important supply and demand elements related to Arhavi destination are mentioned. Arhavi's destination image has been tried to be measured by applying a survey to the students who are studying in this institution. In this study which is a quantitative research, the data obtained from the survey with a total of 155 VHS students were analyzed with various statistical tests. According to the results of the research; While the university students were aware of the moderate positive image perceptions of the Arhavi district people, they have negative image perceptions in terms of district facilities such as entertainment, shopping, sports, accommodation, artistic and cultural activities, historical and touristic values. As a result, the Arhavi destination image has been moderately positive with the viewpoint of the students.
