Resumo

Since 2014, the University of Chile has been developing an online writing lab to support the development of writing skills in all of its students. This article presents the design model for this platform, according to the literature on the teaching of writing and online writing instruction. The article details the structure and contents offered in the platform and its organization into general access and discipline-oriented versions. Finally, the article reflects on the role of an online writing lab in achieving academic literacies and the institutional responsibilities associated with the development of writing skills.
