The present research sought to understand how the processes of reception of the viewers occur withthe program Cidade Alerta Espirito Santo, of TV Vitoria, affiliated to Rede Record. For this, a questionnairewith objective and semi-open questions was applied to three faithful viewers of the program. They weremonitored and observed by the researchers while they watched the Cidade Alerta. From the analysis carriedout, it was concluded that each one of them exercises a “type of reception” of the message emitted by theprogram and that this fact can be explained, among other things, by the convictions that they have aboutthe role and the behavior of the police and on the appropriate treatment for the type of offenders presentedby the program.
