Resumo

Some recent waterworks in Northern France and Belgium exemplify new solutions in water regulation and supplies. The first waterworks described below outline how excess waters in the river Aa basin are evacuated. To satisfy the rising water demand for agriculture and inland navigation, a multisecular drainage system had to be superseded and a model, since 1982, regulates the pumping stations built near the sea. In the second part of this paper three plants of drinking water supplies, those of Aire-sur-la-Lys and Moulle in France and De Blankaart in Belgium, are described to show how various solutions were designed to conform to local resource and supply conditions.
