This network is operated by Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada, Baja California (CICESE) and at the present time consists of 17 stations. The first stations were installed in 1995 and between 2002 and 2008 additional stations, from Network of Autonomously Recording Seismographs (NARS), were installed as part of a collaboration project (NARS‐Baja array) among Utrecht University, the California Institute of Technology, and CICESE. The Mexican National Seismological Service (SSN), operated by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), also installed new stations near the main cities in the Baja California peninsula and Sonora. The database generated by these networks has permitted study of the seismotectonics of the GoC in more detailed and to investigate the velocity structure of this region. We present in this article a description of the seismic network and a review of the main results that have been reported using the data set generated with this regional permanent network.
