ResumoThe article investigates the relationship between the categories of the region’s self-development and the quality of life of the population. The purpose of writing this article was to test the hypothesis of a stable relationship between the categories of the region’s self-development and the quality of life of its population. The authors based on the review of existing developments proposed a methodological approach to quantifying the parameters of the region’s self-development and the quality of life of the population. The method of quantitative assessment proposed by the authors envisages the use of official statistics and suggests the definition of two integrated integral indicators reflecting the level of self-development of the region and the quality of life of the population. Approbation of the methodology was carried out on the example of five regions of the Central Federal District of the Russian Federation (Vladimir, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Kostroma and Yaroslavl Oblasts), typical of central Russia and comparable in key parameters of social and economic development. The results of the study are of interest to public authorities at the regional level, the teaching staff of higher education institutions, post-graduate students and students studying in economic areas of training. The authors also determined the directions for further exploratory research in terms of clarifying the list of direct and inverse indicators that reflect the parameters of the region’s self-development and the quality of life of the population.
