Resumo

This article presents some types of regionalization, especially those existing in the western region of Santa Catarina, as well as their relationship with the operation of intermunicipal consortia. The locality of this study is the region of Alto Uruguai Catarinense, which is inserted in the West Meso-region and the microregion of Concordia, composed of 16 municipalities: Alto Bela Vista, Arabuta, Arvoredo, Concordia, Ipira, Ipumirim, Irani, Ita, Jabora, Lindoia do Sul, Paial, Peritiba, Piratuba, Presidente Castello Branco, Seara e Xavantina. Regarding the methodological procedures, a brief theoretical revision was made on regional territorial organizations, such as administrative political delimitations made by the IBGE, with Meso-region and Microregion, by the Ministry of Agrarian Development through the Territories of Citizenship and Rural Territories and Associations of Municipalities and Regional Development Agencies (ADRs), followed by the study. These forms of territorial division are described, according to the policy adopted by each institution. As a result, we can see that these institutions do not dialogue with each other, causing each division to follow institutional interests, disregarding the already possible divisions of the territory.
