ResumoIn this essay I’m going to analyse the modes of the war representation through the examples taken out from the peculiar novel El sefardi romantico (2005) by the Spanish-Mexican author Angelina Muniz-Huberman. The personal experience of the writer deeply characterizes the themes and the style of her work. Furthermore, her way of writing is strongly influenced by another unusual element: the return to the ladino culture. The two myths, that of the Republican exile and that of the Wandering Jew seen as the eternal exile, are used in an original way in the El sefardi romantico. Supported by Northrop Frye, Vladimir Propp and Mikhail Bakhtin’s narrative theories, my aim is to analyse how the war conflicts described in the novel are connected to the narrative frame and the literary language in order to reflect on the representation of the concept of conflict.
