Although it is not widely studied in the field of the Information Sciences, the photographic document constitutes a challenge to the practices of processing information in documental structures, namely in archives.New technologies and the constant presence of devices that capture images can lead to the trivialization of photo treatment and, for that reason, information management mechanisms must be guaranteed so they can allow not only the exact description of the photographic document but also instill work tools that enhance the organization and recovery of information in a fast and effective way.
