Resumo Neste artigo, pretendemos apresentar a relacao de Mokiti Okada, fundador da Igreja Messiânica Mundial, com diversos generos artisticos com os quais ele teve contato. Para ele, a arte de nivel elevado deleitaria nao so os cinco sentidos de quem a aprecia, mas teria um papel fundamental no desenvolvimento espiritual e material dos individuos. Precisamente por isso, ele procurava inserir a arte em diversos momentos de sua rotina diaria. Baseados nesse principio, discipulos do Japao e do Brasil vem buscando seguir seu exemplo, se empenhando na pratica de varios generos artisticos – artes plasticas, musica, ikebana e outros – e se deleitando com obras de excelencia. A bstract In this article, we intend to present the relationship between Okada Mokichi, founder of Church of World Messianity, with various kinds of arts which he has had contact. For him, an art of high level would not only delightthe five senses of those who appreciate it, but also has a crucial role in the spiritual and material development of people. Precisely for that, he tried to insert art in various momentsof his daily life. Based on this principle, disciples from Japan and Brazil are following his example, engaging them selves in the practice of various kinds of arts – visual arts, music, ikebana and others – and delighting them selves with excellent pieces of work.
