ResumoSymptoms of dry eye are relatively prevalent in the population. However, current clinical tests for dry eye are relatively non-specific, poorly repeatable. and show only a weak association with symptoms. The dearth of information about general ocular surface symptoms and knowledge of their daily fluctuations in the population further limits our understanding of dry eye symptoms. This study characterized symptoms of ocular irritation from a large multi-centered survey of patients in optometric practices in the United States and Canada.
