ResumoResearch entitled ´Visual processing of bistable images: the effect of the body position and applications for the development of divergent thinking´ applied specific tests which were referred to the use of divergent thinking to solve problems that would imply decomposition into geometric figures. In accordance to the applied test, research subjects had to divide a square into four parts that were equal in area and fit. The test objective was to establish how much emerged divergent solutions as the perceptual reorganizations were done, considering the top-down perceptual processing related to perceptual reconfigurations that may involve a decomposition of the base figure (a square) into geometrical icons from the observation of the most conventional solutions, called convergent ideas as well. By analyzing the results of the research working sessions, it was established that the production of divergent ideas was significantly increased after giving specific instructions referred the phenomenon of perceptual reconfiguration using a breakdown into independent components. Time involved to learning how to induce scissions on converging ideas previously given by subjects was useful to produce divergent solutions.
