ResumoAs contemporary young people appropriate the urban space?The answer to this question calls for heavy investment of theoretical discussion and perpepções of youth experiences in relation to the city.The main objective of the study was to determine the appropriation of urban space by contemporary young people in order to understand by which transit spaces and their relationship with these spaces, whether public or private.This was a qualitative study, that to achieve the goals, took the letters methodology.For data analysis, we used analysis of essay questions, applied to this research in the analysis of letters written by the subjects.The study's findings pointed toward different forms of urban space appropriation with significant recurrences, such as the three most cited places in the city of research were public places that are known parks / leisure and entertainment areas.The centers malls appeared with significant impact on the research data: the aforementioned places, seven were shopping, which leads us to reflect on the spaces and the consumption patterns of contemporary youth.Thus, it appears even in the press, the public school of contemporary young people have significant urban experiences, however, they lack greater ownership of this space, in order to better know it, your main points and your points of order public and social.
