Sensory experience and devotion: possible interpretations about female religiosity at the Byzantine Court (11th century)

La emperatriz Zoe, y su hermana menor Teodora, fueron las ultimas representantes de la dinastia macedonica. Miguel Psellos, en su Cronografia , retrata a Zoe en el final de su vida: casi recluida, dedicada a una rutina de devocion cargada de sensorialidad, que el autor presenta como particular y sospechosa. El objetivo de esta ponencia es en principio comprender la postura critica del autor, que expone el caso de Zoe encuadrado en un esquema privado de devocion, una formula piadosa arraigada en un espiritu simple atado a lo sensible. Seguidamente enumerare las distintas aproximaciones historiograficas actuales en torno a las practicas religiosas de la emperatriz y por ultimo, observare si la nocion de aesthesia puede aplicarse para comprender esta experiencia devocional, que en una interaccion mistica y compleja de alma y cuerpo, conduciria a un conocimiento superior.
