Resumo: Ao contrario do que se pensa comumente, ha muitos elos que unem as concepcoes e as perspectivas de Gorgias e de Platao. Limitar-me-ei simplesmente a considerar a relacao entre afetividade e racionalidade, entre palavra e paixoes. Para o “sofista”, como para o “filosofo”, a palavra e sempre portadora de emocoes, e suscita simultaneamente emocoes; e o instrumento, tipicamente humano e civil, por meio do qual o individuo se relaciona com os outros. E isto vale tambem no campo das demonstracoes racionais que, se quiserem ser eficazes, tem de ser capazes de gerar persuasao. Portanto, tambem a persuasao resulta de uma “alianca” entre logica e paixao e esta alianca causa um tipo especifico de curvatura no proprio conceito de verdade. Palavras-chave: Platao. Gorgias. verdade. pathos. logica. Abstract: In spite of what is commonly held, there's many a link between Gorgia's and Plato's views and concepts. I will just consider the relation between the sphere of affections and that of reason, between the word and passions. To the sophist, as to the philosopher, the word always carries emotions with it, and at the same time it elicits emotions, it is the typically human and civil means through which the individual relates to others. And this also holds true for rational explanations that, in order to be convincing, need to generate persuasion. Persuasion too, thus, is the outcome of an between logics and passion, and this alliance produces a special bending in the very concept of truth. Keywords: Plato. Gorgias. truth. pathos. logic.
