ResumoA simple methodology to design metal-free porphyrin (meso-tetra-(1-naphthyl)porphyrin) and their corresponding transition metal complexes (Zn(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(III) and Mn(III)) is described. These porphyrins were fully characterized by elemental analysis, HRMS-ESI, UV–vis absorption, steady state fluorescence emission, theoretical calculations and electrochemical analysis. Photo-stability and singlet oxygen generation species were also evaluated. Spectroscopic studies and molecular docking calculations evinced the ability of each porphyrin derivatives to establish interactions with calf-thymus DNA (ct-DNA).
