ResumoM Y DAUGHTER Katie gig gled all the way through Cosby Show the other night. And why shouldn't she? Aside from Inspector Gadget, it is her favorite TV show. Occasionally, take the time to watch the program and share the laugh ter with this inquiring 9-year-old. My, how funny Cosby was on that particular eve ning! Vanessa, the good doctor's TV daugh ter, went to a friend's house and suc cumbed to the evil effects of peer pres sure. In a fit of boredom, the girls, whose parents were conveniently gone for the evening, took a bottle of bourbon from the liquor cabinet and played the alpha bet gamea test of rhythm and reason ing whose losers drink alcoholic bever ages to a chorus of Drink, drink! Oh, such creative youngsters they were! But see Katie laugh. The game does look like fun. The girls, smirking and cavorting, drop shots of straight booze and dance around the room. They grow silly. Canned laughter accompanies their trips to the bathroom, the kitchen, and the front yard to vomit from their over indulgence. Upbeat music and flashy colors accent this grand, youthful adven ture. Any sense of impending doom is overshadowed by a gleeful atmosphere of celebration. The girls all have the good sense to find s ber drivers to take them home so cial responsibility is in, isn't it? Vanes sa's taxi service is provided by a caring older sister, who, through subterfuge and conniving, sneaks her drunken sibling past the unsuspecting Huxtables and tucks her safely into bed. How comical are those scenes of big sis supporting a stum bling Vanessa as she negotiates the stairs. Hilarious, too, is the rodeo shot of Denise riding her besotted sibling down the hall. The girls find sanctuary behind a locked door, safe from adult discovery. But wait! An alarm is sounded! Just as Vanessa flops onto her bed, the phone rings to inform the unsuspecting parents that a party has taken place. Worried parents Cliff and Clair bound up the stairs to uncover the sham. Their trusted daughter lies askew on her bed, head in wastebasket, bemoaning her discomfort and drunkenness. I see you've learned your lesson! Mom intones. Dad, smirk ing and strutting, punctuates this pro nouncement with the famous Cosby pos ture. It's off to school the next day for the poor dear hung over and unkempt. Wh n she gets home, Vanessa heads for her room but is intercepted by her par ents. The Huxtables have decided that playing the alphabet game once more would be just reward for their daughter's behavior. Even Rudy, a fourth-grader, is forced to indulge: she swigs her glass of spirits amidst shudders and squeals. Vanessa is aghast. Her turn inevitably comes, but not before Cliff has clowned and downed several straight shots of his own. Vanessa pleads with her dad that she has learned her lesson that her lips will never touch liquor again.
