Durch Bestrahlen wird auf einer TiO2-Oberfläche ein Muster aus hydrophoben und hydrophilen Stellen erzeugt; anschließend wird ein Film von monodispersen Polystyrolkügelchen aufgebracht, der nur die hydrophilen Stellen benetzt und für die Farbgebung maßgeblich ist.
