Resumo

:Upon its release, The Silent World (1956) immediately changed the way the ocean was popularly represented. While revolutionary in its presentation, the film draws heavily from the vocabularies of two established yet disparate genres—safari and science fiction. This hybridization is explored by examining both the film's text and context.
