Resumo: A partir da ideia de katharsis nos textos medicos e iluminado pelo fato de Aristoteles haver mostrado, em diversas passagens de sua vasta obra, um conhecimento aprofundado dos textos medicos, o presente texto procura ser uma breve introducao ao estudo das motivacoes da escolha de um termo como katharsis na Poetica e as implicacoes dessa opcao nas ulteriores apreciacoes dos textos tragicos. Abstract: Based on the idea of katharsis found in ancient medical texts and enlightened by the fact that Aristotle had shown, in many passages of his vast work, a deep knowledge of medical texts, the following paper aims to be a brief introduction to the study concerning the motivations related to the choice of the term katharsis in Ancient Poetry and the implications of that preference in the appreciations of Classical texts.
