Geological formations and processes

The criterion utilized to fix provisionally the upper limit of Cretaceous in the Pyrenees of Catalonia (Spain) is exposed. Thirteen reference series are exposed in two tables ; one of these shows the series of the western region to Segre, the other shows the series of the Port del Compte-Pedraforca-Cadi région. Three reference series of more eastern region (Ripollès-Empordà) are annexed also. The most remarkable lithostratigraphic and biostratigraphic characteristics of the substratum and the roof of series are indicated, and at the margin of stratigraphie levels their main lithological and paleontological data (either new or known) are consigned.
