ResumoAccuracy stratigraphie and paleoecology data about Middle and Lower Miocene of South Corsica-North Sardinia. A sedimen-tology study of the South Corsica-North Sardinia region and a new stratigraphie approach (based on a Foraminifera and Echinids revision) lead us to a more accurate picture of a dynamic reconstitution of the Miocene Corso-Sardinian basin évolution. The Burdigalian transgression gives rise to the development of fringing reefs ; after a relative fall of marine level, the transgression starts again, through perideltaic formations (conglomerate, sands) quickly followed by marine facies (barreer reef, lagoon) correlative to the so-called "Calcaire de Sausset" formation of Provence. The Burdigalian stage ends by deeper conditions as shown by fine terrigenous supplies with planktonic microfaune comparable to the Lower Marls of Tamaris, then by a highstand system tract with reefal limestones coeval to the "Pierre de la Couronne" in Provence. The settlings of the prolonged Burdigalian corresponding to the Upper Marls of the Tamaris are either missing or thin because of a distensive tectonic stage. After the important 16,5 Ma unconformity, the Lower Langhian déposition undated, and they are probably missing which would show a lowstand wedge on that platform rim. A distensive tectonic probably episode occurred there and highstand system tract facies, sometimes transgressive on the granite represents probably the Langhian. All those particulars confirm the great stratigraphie value of the echinids of that period of time in the basin of the Western Mediterranean Sea.
