In order to incorporate HVDC links, the basic optimal power flow (OPF) procedure requires substantial modifications to be able to model the practical operating state of both AC and DC systems. The existence of a DC link introduces complexity in OPF computation. Therefore, we propose in this paper an efficient enhanced differential evolution algorithm with new mutation scheme, called differential evolution with local search mutation, to solve OPF problem incorporating HVDC links. The proposed technique adjusts available AC and DC control variables in order to minimize the total operating cost under both AC and DC operational constraints. The performance of the proposed strategy has been illustrated using four different test systems of various sizes. The achieved results were evaluated and compared with those reported recently in literature. Citing Literature Volume29, Issue2February 2019e2737 RelatedInformation
